Hi, Just wanted to update the blog.
It has been a hectic year so far and find myself all the way in Fall with a feeling that the early part of the year vanished in a flash.
Politics:
The presidential elections loom and as far as I am concerned this elections are one of the most important in our countries history. It pits a political group (Republicans) who have successfully pitched the idea of personal independence with clitches such as small government and low taxes, market independence and low or no regulation to be better then government intervention, taxes, regulation (ala tax and spend liberal motif). However reality is very different, these 8 years of unparralleled power in the hands of the Republicans have got us into the worst financial mess, which on top of an extremely poorly handled war adds to a meltdown worse than the crash of the 1920's. I think poor or no regulation and the role of the contractors such as Halliburton played no small part in this mess. We have a choice now between lies where we have a bait and switch from what Republican stated positions are and what they actually do when in power and the Democrats who would be a fresh albeit an unknown force. We are so disgusted at our plight that a leap in to unknown territory sounds far better than the Republicans.
Travels:
The highlight of this years travel was our trip as a family to Israel. Our decision to rent a car at Ben Gurion was perhaps the best thing we did. As this allowed unfettered ability to go anywhere in the country. We went to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv (beach front), Ceaseria (ancient port city build by King Harrod), Dead Sea (at Ein Gedi and Massada). People were wonderful, and the history fantastic. Check out the pictures in my flickr account. You can get this on my yahoo flickr account.
